Employee Spotlight: Richard

Department: Accounts Receivable

Responsibilities: My responsibilities are mostly centered around billing our clients and helping the New Direction staff to ensure that our fees are being correctly applied.

What makes me a great member of the team: Everyday I do my best to bring a positive attitude to the team and am always willing to help anyone both inside and outside of the company.

My passion at NDIRA: The thing that I enjoy most about working at NDIRA is getting to work with all of the great people we have here. My position affords the opportunity to talk to almost everyone in the company and it's awesome to be able to learn from all of the dedicated, friendly people here at New Direction.

My passion outside of NDIRA: I am a student, so right now my passion consists of finishing my homework. But, I also really enjoy cooking, working on my home, building custom furniture, and spending time with my family.

What I love about living in Colorado: I’m lucky enough to have found a home in the foothills just west of New Direction, so I get to experience the beauty of the Rocky Mountains on a daily basis. Some of my favorite things to do in Colorado are hiking and riding my motorcycle through the Rockies. Taking a nap in a hammock under the ponderosa pines is pretty cool, too.

Favorite Movie: There are many movies that I love, but of them all I have to admit, I’m a Star Wars junkie. I go back and forth as to whether I like Episode V or VI the best, but I also really enjoy the new films.

Richard's Balsamic Vinaigrette: While there are many recipes I have created myself and enjoy sharing with friends and family, a good recipe to share here might be my homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette. It is a fairly quick, flavorful, and healthy salad dressing that can be used for salads, veggie dip or a fish marinade. This recipe yields 1 cup of dressing.

  • Balsamic vinegar (½ cup)
  • Prepared brown mustard (1 tsp)
  • Chili caribe (1 tsp)
  • Granulated garlic (¼ tsp)
  • Ground black pepper (1 tsp)
  • Italian blend herbs (1 tsp)
  • Salt (¼ tsp)
  • Oil (¾ cup) - I make this a lot so I use canola (it's cheaper) but this recipe would be great with olive oil, too.
  1. Measure balsamic vinegar and mustard into a jar.
  2. Add dry spices, salt and herbs to the jar.
  3. Cap the jar and shake.
  4. Add in half of the oil.
  5. Cap the jar and shake again.
  6. Add the remaining oil.
  7. Cap the jar and shake once more.
  8. Enjoy!
